Mendably helps several people turn their differing views of a situation into one shared, supportive plan with the help of an AI "Guide." This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Who this app is for
Mendably is intended for adults (caregivers, partners, family members, roommates, and colleagues). It is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. When a parenting plan includes details about a child (such as a first name or age), that information is provided by the adult creating the plan, about their own child.
Information we collect
- Account information — your email address and a display name you choose. Sign-in is passwordless: we send a one-time code to your email, or use a sign-in token from Google or Apple if you choose them. We never store a password.
- Content you provide — the situations, perspectives, follow-up messages, and any child details (first name, age) you enter to generate or discuss a plan.
- Plan participation — email addresses you enter to invite others, and the perspectives invited people contribute.
- Feedback — optional ratings and comments you give on the Guide's responses.
- Technical data — your device's language/region (to reply in your language), and, if you enable notifications, a device push token.
If you use the app as a guest without an account, your plans are stored only on your device and are not sent to our servers.
How we use your information
- To create and manage your account and let you sign in.
- To generate plans and follow-up responses, and to translate the Guide's replies into a participant's language.
- To deliver invitations and notifications related to your plans.
- To operate, secure, and improve the service, including reviewing feedback to improve the Guide's prompts.
How your content is processed
To generate and translate plans, the content of your conversation is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, which processes it to return a response. We use providers that do not train their models on your data through our integration. We also use:
- Supabase — authentication, database, file storage, and serverless functions (stores your account and plan data).
- Anthropic (Claude) — generating and translating plan content. Your content is not used to train their models through our integration.
- Resend — sending invitation and notification emails.
- Expo / Apple / Google push services — delivering push notifications, if enabled.
- Cloudflare Turnstile — protecting the service from automated abuse (used on the web for visitors without an account); it does not receive your plan content.
- PostHog — privacy-conscious product analytics (see below); receives usage events, not your plan content.
- Sentry — crash and error diagnostics; configured not to send personal information.
Analytics & diagnostics
We use analytics and crash-reporting to understand how the app is used and to fix problems. These tools record events like "a plan was created" or "an error occurred" — they are designed not to receive the text of your situations, perspectives, messages, or other sensitive content. Analytics are disabled entirely when no analytics key is configured.
Safety & emergencies
Mendably is not an emergency or crisis service and is not monitored in real time. If you or someone else is in danger, being abused, or thinking about self-harm, contact your local emergency number or a crisis line immediately — for example, in the US call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or 1-800-799-7233 (Domestic Violence Hotline). The Guide is designed to prioritize safety and point you toward real help in these situations, but it cannot intervene or contact anyone on your behalf.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal information and we do not use it for advertising. Content you contribute to a shared plan is visible to the other participants of that plan. We share data with the service providers listed above only to operate the app, and we may disclose information if required by law.
Data retention & deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account at any time in the app under Settings → Delete account. Deleting your account removes your account, the plans you own, and your saved perspectives; perspectives you contributed to plans owned by other people are anonymized so they are no longer linked to you. You may also request deletion by emailing us.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, your session credentials are stored in your device's secure storage, and access to stored data is restricted by row-level security rules. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Your choices & rights
You can edit your display name, control notification permissions through your device settings, and delete your account. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information; contact us to exercise them.
International users
Your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where we or our providers operate.
Changes
We may update this policy; we will revise the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
